Taking S1 Bus is the cheapest way for going from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road and Sanam Luang without changing public bus or taking another kind of public transportation.

All buses running on Suvarnabhumi Airport S1 Bus route are air-conditioned. Older buses are orange but a number of new blue buses used on S1 Bus route is increasing. New buses are more comfortable as there's more space for dropping your backpack.

The expected frequency of S1 Bus was every 30 minutes. However, it is now advertised that S1 buses should depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport every hour even if some travelers suggest that their waiting time was longer than that.

The journey to the final destination usually takes about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

Important! *The noted S1 Bus service time from 6:00 to 20:00 is for departures from Suvarnabhumi Airport only! From Sanam Luang (Khao San Road) S1 Bus departs approximately 1 hour later (approximate service time - from 07:00 to 21:00).

Suvarnabhumi Airport shuttle bus S1 route can be found on the S1 Bus route map below. "Dark Blue Line" bus route is used when traveling on S1 Bus from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road, while "Light Blue Line" bus route is used when taking S1 Bus from Khao San Road to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road

On the route from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road, S1 Bus Bangkok goes by the expressway before getting into the city center at Bangkok Midtown Hotel.

After getting down to Phetchaburi Road the bus passes Urupong Railway Station and turns to Lan Luang Road. Along the road, Royal Princess Larn Luang is passed while S1 bus route continues to the famous Phan Fa Lilat Bridge next to Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan with the Golden Mountain or Wat Saket on the left.

You can drop off at Wat Ratchanatdaram bus stop on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, if you are staying at well-rated Siam Champs Elyseesi Unique Hotel or Here Hostel Bangkok as both of them are located nearby.

After passing the Democracy Monument, S1 bus turns right from Ratchadamnoen Klang Road to Thanon Tanao Road to start the route around Khao San Road area. Depending on the location of your Khao San Road hotel, you can drop off at Wat Bowonniwet, Khao San Road or Wat Chana Songkram bus stop.

S1 bus route departs Khao San Road area by Chakrabongse Road, gets into the main Somdet Phra Pin Klao Road, makes a U-turn just before Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge and ends the trip at Sanam Luang Bus Terminal.

Khao San Road to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Pay attention that S1 bus route from Khao San Road to Suvarnabhumi Airport is different as after departing from Sanam Luang Bus Terminal the bus is going to Phra Athit Road along the Chao Phraya River and passes Riva Surya Bangkok, which is most probably the best hotels in Khao San Road area.

S1 bus makes a stop at Phra Arthit Pier (can get there by Bangkok River Boats) before continuing the route to Phra Sumen Fort and turning to Phra Sumen Road. The bus turns right and passes Khao San Road area by Chakrabongse Road before getting to the main Ratchadamnoen Klang Road and continuing all the way to the expressway that is used for reaching Suvarnabhumi Airport without any other stops.

Bangkok Airport to Khao San Road Travel Options

Suvarnabhumi Airport is connected to Bangkok City by the train, which is known as Airport Rail Link. If you're arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport or departing from it, the easiest and cheapest way to travel from/to the airport is taking Airport Rail Link.
